On Friday 18th October 2024, The Gippsland Forestry Hub proudly launched its Steps Towards a Greener Future report at a luncheon held on Friday at the Morwell Innovation Centre, bringing together key industry stakeholders, government representatives, and community leaders to discuss the future of sustainable forestry in Gippsland.
Attendees heard from Alastair Woodard, Director of Technical Promotion & Consulting Solutions (Aust) Pty Ltd, who presented the findings from the Steps Towards a Greener Future report.
Kersten Gentle, CEO of Frame and Truss Manufacturers Association of Australia (FTMA Australia), spoke about FTMA’s ‘Carbon Warriors’ initiative to help tackle climate change.
Lastly, Jon Lambert, Managing Director of Heartwood Unlimited, spoke about carbon farming and the opportunity this emerging industry presents.
The report, developed in partnership with FTMA Australia and Wood Products Victoria, outlines innovative strategies for fostering environmental sustainability, economic growth, and job opportunities in the region.
The launch marks a major milestone in the Hub’s ongoing efforts to support a resilient forestry industry that benefits the local community and environment.
